Since 2004 I have been taking photographs of the workplace; a space that is ordinary, everyday, familiar. Whilst working in the office of an FE college, I would use the objects around me to make 'things', ranging from elastic band balls to pen lid sculptures. This was an unstructured creative process without particular aim. The ephemeral and transitory nature of these creations meant that often the sculptures would be returned to their pre-scribed use when there was need for a paper clip or elastic band. This led on to the documentation of the results using various photographic apparatuses. Soon the photograph became the reason I would make the sculpture.
