I am a photographer and educator, working in Leeds. My photographs combine a documentary approach with a sometimes cinematic and 'built' fiction, to create narratives that speak of the real world yet transport us elsewhere. The work explores environments that harbour an undercurrent of quiet conflict and control. I have been known to prowl in these environments nocturnally which can be thrilling; a sense of intrusion, where familiar scenes seem transformed. Is this how it would appear to an outsider, an alien? Walking round an office when everyone has left reminds me of visiting my father's workplace as a child; a place of play and infinite possibilities

In preparation for the production of these series, the objects and actions of workers, managers, teachers and students were explored quasi-anthropologically; information or 'facts' have been gathered through photographs, notes, interactions

This is my current approach and is subject to change
